Find me at CTN!

Hey Folks!

It's been an incredibly busy fall leading up to this weekend, but I'm excited to share that I'll be tabling at CTN Animation Expo this friday through sunday in the new talent showcase. If you happen to be at the convention please stop by and say hi! I love chatting a and meeting new people.

Sketchbook Update

I've been playing around with some apps on my iPhone to try to give my sketchbook images some character. I'm hugely inspired by any and all things vintage, and I love the old-time feel these drawing get with the help of Instagram.

Zach and Leslie

Happy New Year everyone! Just got back last week from my Christmas vacation in Disney World! The best part about the trip was my best friend Zach Baker getting married to his wife Leslie. Here's a wedding present I cooked up for the two of them. Hopefully it's just the right amount of lovey-dovey.

An old man and his sweater-vest...

Had the urge to draw old people recently. For a quick drawing, I'm pretty happy with how this turned out.

Wonder Woman Commission Sketch

I haven't drawn many super heroes, but after drawing a quick commission sketch of Wonder Woman while tabling at New York Comic Con, I've decided this needs to change.

New York Comic Con!!!

Don't judge! I love taking vintage photos with my iPhone.

Here are some of the snapshots of the wild and crazy busy weekend at New York Comic Con. As can be expected, many folks came out wearing incredibly constructed costumes. Above are also a few photos of Daehan, Steve and I at the table (I'm the goofy kid two photos up with short brown hair). Overall, great times were had.

Thanks to everyone who came to visit my table at the convention!

Exhibiting at New York Comic Con

HOLYPOOPCOMICCON!!! (Just a wee bit excited here).

My goodness what an insane weekend. Trying to get ready for huge convention while ALL trains into north Brooklyn from Manhattan are down is not an easy task...at all. But no amount of MTA suckage will stop Edward Chow, Daehan Stevenson and I from having an excellant display put together at New York Comic Con!!! So if any of you handsome/gorgeous blog readers happen to be galavanting about the convention next weekend, please make sure to stop by and say hi! I will be exhibiting Friday Oct. 14 through Sunday Oct. 16 in the anime artist alley. Check out the above map for the approximate location. Our table number is FE7.

I'll also have debut prints of these two illustrations at the convention, so don't miss the opportunity to be one of the first to get one. They will be available for purchase in my ETSY store within the next few weeks.

Hope to see you there!

Stegall Family Portrait

Howdy Folks! Over the past couple weeks, I've been working on this fun little side project for Jeremy Stegall, a friendly chap I met while tabling at Baltimore Comic Con. He commissioned me to do a "family portrait" for him and his wife. I really enjoyed getting to create an image that captured the personality of the Stegall clan, instead of a more traditional painted portrait. Any who, hope you guys enjoy the piece! I'm particularly fond of the dogs.

Also, you should check out Jeremy's photography portfolio. He's based in Laramie, WY. Got some impressive stuff on his website!

I stood under the waterfall...

And now time for another Owl City exercise. This has been so much fun. Adam Young's lyrics although again, highly eccentric just give me so many interesting ideas to play with. My goal with these illustrations is to see how quickly I can come up with a concept and illustrate it, attempting to improve my speed and illustration quality with each one. This one took a bit longer than the bear, but I'm close to about 3 - 4 hours per illustration. Now the question is can I get that down even faster? I guess we shall see. I'll keep you guys posted!

I saw a bear in the den...

The lyrics in Owl City's music, although highly eccentric, is very poetic and surprising descriptive. This illustration is based off of a line from his song Plant Life.

Benedict Cumberwhat?!

A little sketch of Benedict Cumberbatch I did a few months ago. Boy what a face. A ridiculous, ridiculous face.

Also, you may have noticed a bit of a website facelift. I decided over the weekend that it was time to update and unify the graphic design on my various online sites (twitter, tumblr, etc). I'd love to hear what you folks think of the new look! I think I like where it's headed, although I'll admit I'm still getting used to it.

Olive

This is my latest addition to my personal Pushing Daisies fan art collection. Olive has some of the best lines and character moments on the show. I think my love for Pushing Daisies might be reaching an unhealthy level of obsession, mostly because I continue to drool over the production design. Oh well! I’m sure that infatuation will run its course, but for now, you folks will just have to put up with it. A shame, I know.

Baltimore Comic Con

(Wow, look at that big 'ole shit-eating grin)

I just got back from the Baltimore Comic Con today where I sold my art for the first time at a convention in the artist alley. Wow, what a doozy of an experience (both prepping for and during the convention)! But boy was it worth it. I got to meet and swap art with talented colleagues, met up with some college friends, and had the chance to talk with several friendly folks who where kind enough to stop by my booth and buy my stuff. A big thank you to everyone who came by to say hi. I had a blast spending time with you this weekend.

I thought I'd post some pics from the event.

(The merch)

(Jen Keith, Nate Taylor, and Stephanie Hocutt being awesome)

(Princess Leia? o_o)

(When I was four, I wanted to be the Red Power Ranger)

(Emma and Molly stopped by to say hi)

Several people asked me about an online store and my availability for commission work. I'm currently setting up a store on ETSY, and I am also available for commission work. The store will be up by this time next week. Check back over the weekend for an announcement. I'll have commission and pricing information available on the site by then too. Until then, contact me via e-mail if your interested in a commission.
